I have been professionally training horses for pleasure and show for over 20 years. I would like to use this platform as a way to help people gain a better relationship with their horse and to answer questions regarding your horse or horsemanship.
I have an 8 year old paint gelding that I ride english and western. He is continuously pulling on the bit and tosses his head when I pull on the reins to slow him down or stop. I have been taking lessons and using a standing martingale in order to avoid the problem. I feel like we are always fighting and it is not an enjoyable experience for either of us! I do not want to keep tying his head down and keep masking my problem. I want him to trust my hands and have fun when I ride rather than feeling like we are at war every time I ride! Do you think you can help?
